its freaking cold outside!!

Well, I very much meant to write a journal BEFORE I left for my grandma’s, but that just didn’t happen. Instead, you will now get a double-dose of random ponderings!


So first off, I was thinking about, well, life, as I was driving down to Misery…er, Missouri, last Tuesday night. And I was kind of thinking about how much life is about discovery. And how much of that discovery is within ourselves.

It made me think about the way IIIIII am. And the way that I define and identify myself. It made me think that, upon inspection, maybe I am not entirely the person that I show to others. I mean, I cant be sure, exactly, but I wonder sometimes if the things that I supposedly “enjoy” are really just things that I force myself to enjoy, or trick myself into thinking I enjoy. It’s a strange thought, I know…


Another thing I realized while at my grandmas was that a lot of my cousins who I used to be close to really have nothing in common with me, while a few of the cousins who I never really liked much are actually far more similar to me. Its odd, because I had two cousins who I used to pretty much hang out with exclusively, but suddenly I realize that they don’t like the same music as me, or appreciate art, or have any interest in books other than Twilight, or like hiking in the woods. At the same time, my cousin Matt, who I used to detest, I now realize is actually pretty similar to me, and I like hanging out with him more. It was just strange to suddenly not be the little kid cousin anymore, and to actually gain respect from my older cousins and be a part of what they were doing. I didn’t have to be a kid anymore.


Okay. Another thing I wanna put out there is that I realized just HOW INCREDIBLY MUCH I hate alcohol. The first night at my grandma’s, some of my cousins were drinking, and one of them ended up beating me. II now have a sharp pain in my collarbone and shoulder, along with a handful of bruises. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced, cos my cousin was so out of it, I couldn’t reason with him. He just kept hitting me. I don’t think I can forgive drinking anymore.


Now, for some ADVENTURING! one of the highlights of my trip was that my grandma lives on a lake. So my cousins and i took out this 25-year-old rowboat and put a dinky little motor on it, and decided to take it out on the lake. we also brought with us rations, which involved a single chocolate bar, and decided that we were going to do the anti-titanic. This involved us all attempting to row the boat into buoys, which we called "icebergs", and pretending to be George Washington crossing the Delaware by standing at the front of the boat. we earned merit badges if we hit the icebergs. We also took our dinky rowboat out to the Main Lake, where a bunch of speedboats almost killed us, and all the way into town, which was about 7 miles and a ton of rowing.

Also, last night we went barn-swinging, which basically involves being harnessed to a rope and jumping off a platform and spinning in circles. its really quite fun. also, i rode the mechanical bull, which i am onvinced we should install in our school and use for track, cos it gives a heck of a good ab workout.


now for the randoms:

1. i have RED HAIR now. i really like it.
2. i have gotten permission from my mom to go see The ACademy Is... on the 18th, which makes me really happy. technically its not even the full band cos its this acoustic cancer-benefit and i dont even know the other 3 bands playing, but im still utterly thrilled.
3. im obsessed with the Smashing Pumpkins right now [as is evident from my recent art]. odd, right? but i love their lyrics. They make for good art. i command thee listen to "Frail and Bedazzled", cos its fantastic.
4. I only have 3 more books left until i finish the Vampire Chronicles! and then im gonna read Rice's other vampire books, of course :]
5. i wanna write a story for christmas/holidays. NOT a love story, preferrably. ideas?
6. anyone know of any covers of xmas/holiday songs done by any bands, or original holiday songs done by bands? im on a hunt to make my own christmas mix. so far, i have only 3 songs, and one of them isnt really a christmas song, just a winter song...


i actually had a lot more to say than just this, but it all seems to be escaping me. plus, i left this whole thing void of detail. which is probably good, cos otherwise it'd be forever long.

well, it is currently about 3 a.m., and i've only just finished a lab report for AP biology, which happens to be due tomorrow. I've literally spent about 7 hours on it now, typing about stupid cellular respiration whilst listening to Lost In Pacific Time. and guess what? it's still an utter piece of shit, even after all this work! which is just lovely. On top of that, i have to finish about 5 journal entries for American Studies, which would probably take me another 2 hours if i did them now. In which case i would not get to sleep, since i have to wake up at 5:15. looks like thats what i'm doing tomorrow during zero hour. AND lunch. joy.

so i am debating whether or not to go to sleep.

see, the thing about sleeping is that if i get less than 3 hours, i'll be a zombie tomorrow, and i'll just feel more exhausted. on the other hand, if i dont sleep, i'll probably fall asleep in math or biology, both of which would be problems. also, the fact that i am running tomorrow kinda makes me think i might want some sleep.

but i'm at the point where im so freaking exhausted, i feel fully awake. its really not healthy, specially since i've been basically living my life in this way for the past two weeks. the last time i got all the sleep i needed was...i cant even remember when. even on weekends i dont get to sleep because of these damn lab reports!

so basically this journal is just an outpouring of my internal debate abot sleeping.

Oh my god, my hands are shaking. thats creepy.

i need sleep. SO much.

as soon as i could hold a crayon, pretty much. when did i start really getting into it? like 5th grade. when did i get any good? like this summer. xD

i used to say femaes, but then i've been drawing a lot of guys lately and find it harder to manage a female figure. but my guys are still so feminine. so id have to say...shemales. shemales are DEFINITELY what i'm best at.

◆Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
depends. on guys, long hair, on girls, short. basically, the same length for either gender. i'm bad at doing really long straight hair or super short spiky hair, but anything between that i can manage.

◆Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
facing the left, although i try to switch it up. i think the eye is just easier that way, i guess.

◆Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
i dont know...both are difficult for different reasons. i guess i tend to do profiles more lately, just cuz i find it easier to do the noses that way.

noses. eyes. hands. male figures from the side. masculine faces. lips. eyelashes. bare feet. bare legs. there are a lot more...

people, mostly. eyes. i also like doodleing robots and animals.

traditional all the way!! xD

usually the head shae. sometimes i'll draw an eye though, and just build around it.

i tend to draw the same sort of nose all the time, as well as other facial features. im trying to change that more. also, i tend to overuse the same styles of clothing in my drawings.

tips? from me? i think not. i'm stll working on figuring coloring out, myself.

◆How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
depends. i can power some stuff out in a few hours, while others i might not finish for weeks. but thats mostly cuz i'll get art ADD and switch around between 5 different drawings...

◆What music do you listen to while you draw?
depends on what im drawing. if the vibe is more intense, ill listen to more intense music. if its mellower, then so is what im listening to. recently though, i listen almost exclusively to the Smashing Pumpkins while i draw, because they just make me wanna draw. i dunno why...

usually not long. its mmostly just PICKING one idea that takes me a while...

pencils i suppose...sometimes just a pen that i can make dots with xD

i tend to use a lot of black with rainbow-y colors. i guess thats just cuz neon-on-black is my favorite color scheme
